Objectives: The students will gain insights into the chances and challenges of a long lasting and sustainable energy supply. During the course the will acquire knowledge which they can apply in their future academic carrier, e.g. for their master thesis, as well as put it to practice in their future activities in the fields of energy management, eco-friendly energy supply and the development of standards in the energy business. Furthermore the can establish relationships for a future international exchange and cooperation. The participants will receive certificates of participation by the organizations responsible for the scientific part of the program.
Lectures: Internationally esteemed experts in the field of sustainable energy supply
Arguments and methods of the course: lectures, exercises, group-work, discussions, excursions & visits to enterprises
The course is divided in 3 modules:
Module I: Austrian Institute of Technology (11th to 19th of August)
energy supply infrastructures, urban energy supply, smart grids, photovoltaic, energy supply in buildings, renewable energy in air conditioning systems, etc.
Module II: Vienna University of Technology - Institute of Atomic and Subatomic Physics– ATI, (20th to 22th of August)
energy-storage, nuclear fusion (ITER), nuclear and alternative energies, nuclear power plants, superconductors in energy supply, wind - power, sustainable energy and climate change, electro-mobility, etc.
Module III: Danube-University Krems (25th to 27th of August)
Concepts and models of sustainable energy management, ecology and society, networked self-reliance in energy management based on renewable resources energy saving and raising efficiency climate change: reduction of greenhouse gas emission, CO2 – management, mobility – management,
Social Program: cultural activities (guided city-walks in Vienna and in Krems, visit to the Vienna woods (Kahlenberg), the castle and Schönbrunn, the excursion to the Unesco World Heritage Wachau), Sports (one afternoon in one of the eldest public open air swimming pools in Europe)
Language course: German or English technical terminology (2 lessons of 50 minutes per week)
Price: EUR3462,00 (booked and paid directly with DESC in Austria)
The price is comprised of courses and complete sojourn program EUR 2382,00 + flight tickets EUR 1080,00.
